Fags As Gypsies

1.   A diaspora of transients living in semi-permanent encampments which may be subject to eviction and redevelopment.  The location of this diaspora is frequently mentioned in guide books for novelty value.

2.   Loudly proclaim their sense of "community", with no real sense of belonging to the larger world.  Very insular mentality, tinged with memories of marginalization, discrimination, history of persecution and exploitation.   Will do odd jobs, part-time jobs or low-level service jobs in corporate sector.

3.  Nomadic existence.  Will stay in one place to graze until their looks, money and reputation run out.  Little permanent asset ownership but plenty of collectibles and souvenirs.  Travel is either a major trek to another oasis encampment or, regular forages to well-known watering holes in close proximity.

4.  Highly sociable, but deeply suspicious and paranoid.  They have trouble initiating, maintaining and keeping long-term commitments.

5.  Highly glib, prone to barbed or funny one-liners.  But also highly prone to automatic lying,  infidelity and dabbling in criminality.

6.  Very promiscuous  and sexually addicted. Confirmed spreaders of disease.

7.  Great showmen, dancers, musicians and singers.  Propensity to belt out Broadway show tunes.  Love dressing in drag with highly stylized sense of costume design.

8.  Accomplished sellers and avid consumers of quack products, clothes, cosmetics and amphetamines.

9.  Recognizable flag and other emblems.  But no nation state and no head of state.  Yet, no shortage of Queens with cult following.  Tons of intrigue, espionage, sabotage, drama and hypocrisy.

10. No coherent foreign policy, but will scream loudly in support of spreading a global sub-standard behavioural franchise.

11. Major underground cash-only economy.
