Death Of A Gay Ghetto 3

Vancouver's Dirty Gay Secret And Why No One's Talking

FuelMix comments on the Reader's Review in Parts 1 and 2:

1.  Let’s start with the obvious.  Here in Very Rich Megacity, finding a fag who’s been to Vancouver is easy. There are flight attendants, businessmen, Asians who lived or studied there and tourists. These guys are right up to date.

Ask them what they think of YVR and they’ll chirp, “Oh it’s really pretty……” and their voice will trail off.  After a little hesitation they’ll say something like, “but….the gay scene is really shitty, totally drugged up. Lots of hype ……”  They’ll shake their heads and change the topic.

From about January 2011, FuelMix was hearing around Very Rich Megacity that the gay saunas in YVR and the miniscule Davie Street scene had taken a nose dive.  Therefore the reader’s review published as Parts 1 and 2, merely articulates what those outside YVR already knew.

2.  The reader identified poor law enforcement, corruption and drug dealing as characteristics of YVR.  Whether that’s true or not, one can say as a general principle that a defining Macro feature, inevitably influences behaviour at a Micro level.

So, in a city with vigorously enforced anti-pollution laws, individuals would adapt their behaviour and raise their standards.  Conversely, in a city with allegedly lousy law enforcement, corruption and drug dealing, individuals would drop their standards to Third World levels.

By that logic YVR’s gay ghetto is a symptom of crummy societal standards that are so entrenched, they would be hard to change.  In any society and in any gay ghetto so afflicted, there would probably be a clique getting rich by peddling the standards of a Banana Republic.

3.  What would this clique’s modus operandi look like?
  • Pressure to join or not join a certain group;
  • Forced business compliance;
  • Barriers to entry and competition;
  • Multiple transient businesses – often in the same ownership;
  • An exploitative shallow economy – high prices for mediocrity;
  • Conflicts of interest;
  • Intimidation of potential sponsors via guilt trips;
  • Dubious and illegal financial dealings;
  • Cover ups and destruction of documents;
  • Outrage when caught;
  • Skipping town;
  • Incestuous relationship with gay media;
  • A culture of facilitating and enabling illegality;

4.  Readers can draw their own conclusions as to the veracity of Parts 1 and 2.  YVR’s gay ghetto would not be the only one seemingly operating like a Banana Republic.  FuelMix has previously observed that urban faggotry is a sub-standard global franchise.  What might make YVR’s gay ghetto unique is how such a small - barely 2 blocks - area, can sink to such depths of toxicity.

5.  We are living in historic times where globally, the Status Quo is imploding.  People are asking, “What the hell is going on here……?” and, “WTF…….??!!”  Polarization of views is everywhere.  People want truth.  Others want to censor it.  Seen in that context, the review in Parts 1 and 2 begins to fit – as does the farcical, obsessive-compulsive gay censorship allegedly going on in YVR.

6.  As the West spirals into economic misery and austerity (courtesy of fraudulent banksters), and the economic effects are felt globally, expect more gay ghettos to face stark questions about survival:
  • Keep a culture of exploitation, denial and censorship – and die?
  • Create a culture of empowerment, accountability and freedom – and thrive?
Your choice.

Death Of A Gay Ghetto 2

Vancouver's Dirty Gay Secret And Why No One's Talking

The Big Picture And The Future of Gay YVR

A reader continues with his view of YVR......

YVR touts itself as a World Class City.  Locals point to annual surveys in The Economist claiming that YVR is the Best Place In The World To Live. It isn’t.  It’s a small city on the coast with a small town mentality. Historically, it has a reputation for poor law enforcement, corruption and drug dealing.

The influx of Asian immigrants – mainly Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese – doesn’t make it an international city. It encourages ethnic cliques.  The influx of Asians inflated the real estate market, triggered consumer inflation and resentment.  Higher prices, urban decay and a boring city, force people who can no longer afford downtown prices, to move further away.  A dirty secret is the number of Vancouverites looking to move out of the city to other countries.

The gay ghetto sits in the middle of a physically decaying downtown. The majority of gay guys are renters.  They don’t have a high earning capacity.  Many are in low grade employment, holding part time jobs, or are hustling and dealing.  As inflation kicks in, these gay renters cannot survive downtown and must move into East Vancouver (itself not a thrilling area).

In other words, YVR’s gay ghetto is bleeding off its population.  That creates a vicious cycle that perpetuates the urban decay.  There’s no earning capacity to support the local gay economy.  The homeless and the druggies move in. The neighbourhood spirals further.  The influx of new faces into the Gay Ghetto are naïve pretty boys from little towns in Alberta looking to move to “the big city”.  They get sucked into “the lifestyle”.  Many end up broke, drug-fucked hustlers and dealers.

Every gay man in YVR knows that the gay ghetto is broken and systemically corrupt. The vicious, petty political feuds would be laughable were it not coupled with embezzlement of funds and a lack of accountability.  How a gay ghetto of 2 dying blocks can spawn a culture of chronic financial rip-offs can only be explained against the larger picture of poor law enforcement, corruption and drug dealing.

And the culture of gay censorship and code of silence?  It’s collusion by a gay cartel.  Again, it’s laughable……how can you censor a downward spiral that’s already common knowledge? Their answer is to perpetuate a propaganda of denial while hiding behind accusations of homophobia.

As mentioned in my earlier post, I have over 25 years experience in gay business in YVR.  I have no axe to grind other than to refuse to shut up in the face of institutionalized deceit, decay and drug dealing.  As far as I’m concerned, YVR’s gay ghetto is finished.  Pack up and get the fuck out.  Leave while you’re still alive.

Thank you for allowing me to express my views on your blog.

FuelMix will make his comments as Part 3.

Death Of A Gay Ghetto 1

Vancouver's Dirty Gay Secret And Why No One's Talking

About Me

Hello FuelMix

I've been watching your zero bullshit blog for a while.  I'm a GWM who's lived in YVR most of his life.  I've been involved with gay businessess in this city for over 25 years. I've seen people come, go and die.  Now I'm watching YVR's gay ghetto die.

The culture of lies, deceit, denial, Gay Media coverup and outright Political Correctness has censored rational analysis in this part of the world.  So I'm turning to an Asian gay blog to tell the truth.

Downtown YVR And Gay Davie Street

There's no denying the natural physical beauty of downtown YVR with the sea and the mountains.  That's just a mask hiding an ugly social reality of drugs, homelessness, disease and degeneration.  One is not supposed to point that out.  Just point to the mountains, the sea and Stanley Park.  Tell everybody we live in the Best Place In the World and smile constantly.  But downtown YVR - generally Davie Street, Denman Street and Robson Street  has been in decline for years with a large number of vacancies.  It's obvious for everyone to see.

Davie Street in particular, the main artery for the 2 blocks of Gay Ghetto, is in terminal decline.  The druggies and the homeless litter the street.  Nobody says anything, nobody does anything.

The gay shops and bars on Davie Street are low grade and have a high failure rate.  They are interspersed with fast food franchises and boarded up shops. The gay politicos think that Davie Street is a mecca for foreign visiting gay men.  Gay foreigners do swing by as tourists, gasp in disgust and disbelief, ask "is that all there is....?" and never return.

The Gay Clubs And The Gay Bars

The gay bar scene is limited to Davie. There are no gay bars on Denman anymore.  The gay bars on Davie are dead or barely existing.  They're not bringing in the crowds.  You don't have to wait in line anymore.

Same goes for the Clubs.  2 gay promoters are maintaining a stranglehold on local club events.  They've been doing it for years, bad mouthing any opposition. The joke is the customers are getting tired of it and attendance is falling off (but they would never admit that).  It's pretty obvious that the same clique of small-town Alberta DJs are doing the rounds.  Who the hell wants to pay for that.....?

Gay Ski Week Whistler

Despite the hype, that's been a bust. The reports from those who went to Whistler, made it clear that people were only staying in that locality.  YVR wasn't considered central to anything other than a place in which to arrive and depart.  50 bucks for a jaded Pool Party ?  And that doesn't include the price of the party favours.

Having seen some of the pictures, the crowd was not inspiring and the ambience felt like a high school dance.  The lack of sophistication in a so-called premier gay event  in Whistler wasn't cutting it with visitors. Several commented to me that gay YVR and gay Whistler lacked any excitement.   Yet again, the same little clique of small-town Alberta and Vancouver Island  DJs and worn out drag queens were trucked up to Whistler to Emcee yet another Mr Gay this-or-that contest and party with the same fools you'd find in YVR.

And don't forget the same 5 fags sharing a double-occupancy room in Whistler..........

The Gay Saunas  in YVR

The so-called flagship sauna is Steamworks.  It's well known in YVR that Steamworks attracts the hustlers, the homeless and has a history of customers overdosing. Its standards of hygiene and management have fallen badly.  Their steam room and dry sauna have been down for weeks.  There have been a string of complaints online about this place for months particularly on Squirt.  But surprise, surprise.........it all gets censored minutes later.

Another "raunchier" sauna, M2M has been in a chronic state of disrepair for months.

Meanwhile, up the road on Davie Street, F212, that was struggling with it customer numbers appears to have made a comeback by default.  Nothing's changed there. Just progressively uglier looking pretty boys overdosing.

The Gay Drug Scene In YVR

YVR's gay drug scene is internationally notorious and getting worse.  For years it was weed, amphetamines, cocaine and crystal meth. Now, GHB is big in the gay saunas.

Surprisingly, heroin is making a comeback amongst the str8s.  But hey......give it time and gay boys will be all over that too.  For such a small gay "community", the drug use can only be described in one word.......rampant.

In Part 2, I will give my views on the big picture and the future of gay YVR.
