Decor & Layout 

The impression upon entering and wandering around My Way Platinum Sauna, is one of disorientation.  The place is cluttered with the oddest assortment of furniture, wooden fencing, strip curtains, plastic curtains, bookshelves, ornaments, picture frames, club lighting,  christmas tree lighting.  There's no design aesthetic.  It's a place where bric-a-brac destined for the scrap heap gets a new lease on life and the alert customer begins to suspect this was done on the cheap.  Even if it wasn't, it gives that impression.

The space is huge, certainly bigger than Galaxy and Alexander; and probably second in size to Chaps Sauna in North Point which has 2 levels.

The Lighting

Throughout the premises, the lighting is just appallingly dim - or outrageously garish (check out the metal floored corridor that leads to the Dark Area, with the twinkling ceiling strobes in red, green and blue.  FuelMix swears that their flickering affects neural function.  Which explains why nobody would stand in that corridor).  Let's just say the lighting is a disaster.

Mutliple Entryways

The other thing to remember about My Way Platinum Sauna is that it has multiple entryways to the same place:

• The Wet Area can be entered from 2 directions; 
• The Steam Room has 2 separate doors;
• the Locker Room can be entered from 3 directions;
• the Dark Area can be entered from 3 directions;

Initially, it's confusing, then it becomes insane, particularly while navigating around the furniture clutter and plastic curtains.


TV Lounge, Computer Centre & Toilets

That's the first thing the customer will trip into and the first wave of kitsch-induced clutter nausea hits.  Behind a curtain next to the computers, lurks a tiny blue-lit (!!) toilet with 2 urinals and 2 stalls.  On entering the toilet,  a familiar *click*, *click*, *click* , *click* sound could be heard coming from one of the locked stalls.  Instantly FuelMix realized it was  a fag with a cigarette lighter smoking rock. 

The Locker Room

The Locker Room is nowhere to be seen, until you do a sharp U-Turn in the Lounge and head left through a flimsly screen divider.  The lighting is trash, so forget about looking in the mirror.  At least the lockers were white in colour and a decent size, so a customer could actually find their stuff.

The Wet Area: Showers, Steam Room, Dry Sauna

To the Left of the Locker Room is  is the showpiece of My Way Platinum Sauna. The Wet Area is impressively huge blue oval with large shower heads with lousy shower pressure. And there's that whole blue lit thing going on too.  There are also showers in a darker corner near the Steam Room.  Theoretically, the showers are a place to check people out - if you can get used to the lighting.

The Steam Room has 2 separate doors.  It's large, rectangular, with benches in alcoves and plenty of standing room for fun and games.  Heats up nicely and is very clean.  The annoying feature are the partitions which have a funny sharp point on them.

The Dry Sauna is also large and rectangular with a long bench along one side.  Again, heats up nicely and has potential.

The Lounges

To the Right of the Locker Room are 2 Lounges, split down the middle. One has a large flat screen TV.  Other than the fact that they both continue the indiscriminate design aesthetic - mentioned in Design & Layout above -  there's not much more to say.

Both of the Lounges have curtained entry into the Dark Area.  One corner of the TV Screen Lounge merges with that cerebrally disturbing corridor with the flickering strobe lights.  You have been warned.



The Dark Area

This is large but inconsistent.  Effectively, it's built around a 3-sided rectangle.  Once that's figured out, it's a cinch to navigate. 

There are plenty of playrooms with the usual condiments - but NO MIRRORS.  However, some have a panel which is a one-way spy mirror to allow voyeurs in the next room , or even in the corridor to gawk at the action.

The playrooms are inconsistent because some have floor mattresses while others have a large raised vinyl bed with a peep screen and a small LCD screen showing gay porn.

At the far end of the Dark Area is a small porn TV lounge with a large, slightly raised vinyl mattress for group fun.  Jap porn seemed to be the order of the day in there.

Just beyond the small porn lounge, is another dark alcove which leads into a narrow communal play area - totally dark.
