It's fashionable to say that fags aren't loyal to anyone, or anything, or any gay venue.

Not so.

Fags are remarkably loyal to their public toilets.  All over the world, fags will haunt the same toilets for years, sometimes decades.

2.  The Social Trajectory

1.  Although the article quoted in Part 1, gave a brief history of cruising and public sex in the UK, it's probably correct to say that the venues and social trajectory were the same worldwide, namely:

(a) Dark Days And Defiance

• suppressive social, political and legal environment which actively criminalized "deviancy" as they defined it.  The mob rule of the moral majority;
• being gay and stumbling onto, or into, gay cruising areas - and realizing that they were hiding in plain sight and that there were (lots of) guys just like you;
• sense of delight, relief, exhilaration, fright and daring; 
• repeat visits;
• underground network of discreet contacts; some, for life;

(b) The Moral Backlash

• prosecutions for public sex, loitering with intent, gross indecency, buggery;
• threats of blackmail and exposure;
• publicity with personal and professional wreckage;
• vacationing or moving away to gay-friendly locations - greater anonymity, freedom;
• cruising venues here and abroad notorious by word of mouth;
• code of silence i.e. what happens in the toilet / park / locker room / gym steam room / bar back room / sauna / stays there;

(c)  A Rational Alternative

• calls for decriminalization of gay sex met with strident opposition in favour of status quo;
• growing support for decriminalization supported by professional organizations and / or foreign governments;
• decriminalization -  with, or without conditions, initially with additional policing and a short spike in prosecutions;

(d) Emergence And Establishment:  The Hedonist Lifestyle

• gay publications - hard copy and digital;
• cruising areas and toilets more well known;
• gay bars, gay saunas; gay gyms;
• gay drug scene  more overt and rampant;
• reduction in policing and harassment;
• gay porn easily available;
• gay retail;
• gay ghetto; 
• gay "Pride";
• gay cultural and sports events;
• gay circuit parties;
• gay vacations;
• alleged power of "Pink Dollar"; 
• disease rates;

 (e) Oh...For Fuck's Sake..!!

• gay rights advocacy;
• gay-friendly media portrayal;
• gays online;
• Out gay personalities;
• "Outrage" and the Engine of Faggotry;
• minority-protective or equality legislation;
• gay bashing and introduction of "hate crimes";
• introducing "gay" into school curriculum;
• gay marriage, adoption, same-sex benefits;
• enforced political correctness triggering resentment;
• previously the mob rule of the str8 Moral Majority, now the mob rule of the gay Moral Minority;
• emergence of the independently thinking gay man vs the screaming fag;
• Faggotry revealed for what it is: a social control tool;

2.  Interesting huh...? Never underestimate the power of a urinal to effect societal change (initially for the better, but then for the worse - as the socio-political agenda sets in).
