Dear FuelMix

Seeing that there is not yet a review on this newest( again) sauna in town on your blog, I would like to write one in order to shed some light on the place, which, as rumor has it, is the reincarnation of the legendary Towel Club. But judging from what I see, I harbor the belief that this claim is anything but true.

Getting There 

Big Top is located on the 3rd floor, Yuet Yuen Building (17-19 Mong Kok Road), in the vicinity of Club Houzz. To reach the sauna, one has to pass the gate of the building by pressing the button for 3F at the intercom. This, coupled with the building being largely residential, makes the location highly discreet. After all, one can always say he is visiting some friend living there when spotted at the door, in addition to the fact that virtually no one would mind what you are doing in such a slum area of the city as this. However, it is very probable that once the nature of the place is exposed to the residents, the customers will be cast a curious, if not contemptuous, gaze.

Admission Fee & Entrance Policy 

The admission fee is HK$140, but since it is newly opened, it charges customers HK$70 instead. How long this will last is not known. It operates 24 hours. Pay the fee and you can get a key to the locker, standard stuff.

By the way, when I arrived, I heard a member of the staff stating their indiscriminate policy towards clients. Therefore I reckon we are spared the unpleasant experience in Double and the like here.

Layout And Ambience

Locker Room & Lounge 

In the locker, which is made of iron, there is a larger towel as well as a smaller one. The smaller one is used to wipe the body so can be supplied on request. Shoes are paced beneath the lockers.

Upon entering the locker area, one can easily sense the nastiness and naughtiness of the designers and the managers/ owners. The locker room is in the same area as the lounge. Thus prepare yourself to be watched undressing by others sitting on the sofa, in the same manner as they watch the TV.

Likewise, the design of the whole place is dotted with some dirty old man's blue jokes, although it is not bad at all. In the lounge, there are 2 big sofas, a TV showing anything but porns,  a table covered by magazines and 2 or 3 set of cozy iron chairs and wooden small tables. There is also a cock( animal)-shaped ornament( or a lamp). What a pun. And one has to pull out tissues from the asshole of a dog-shaped box. I found it an accidental innuendo when I maliciously insert my fingers into its anus to get some tissues. As a whole the decoration of the lounge strikes me as not unpleasant, completed with a crystal light and some fake fireplaces. The illumination is enough here, albeit soft, enabling us to see each other clearly.

Counter & Gym 

In the same area as the lockers and the lounge, there is a counter as well as a small gym( !). The counter is scattered with snacks, bananas, a drink machine, a water dispenser, cups and some soft drinks for free,  Near this there is a washing basin, which is actually a tiny urinal. 

The gym consists of 4 dumbbells, 2 barbells, 2 benches, a hoola hoop and a mirror. Yet, no one used them,and as another customer told me, it was considered kind of weird to work out there.

Wet Area 

From this area stretches 2 corridors, one to the back of reception( to obtain new towels), one to the wet area and steam rooms( apparently an inscription on a wall calls them "Adam's Holes". ) and the toilet, along which there are 2 computers and an entrance to the dark area, too. A curtain separates the gym and the dark area.

The toilet is standard, except the tap of the washing basin is a " penis" of a male torso. I could feel the snicker of the designer whenever I used it.

The wet area is also standard, with the shampoos and shower gels marked clearly, exactly as does Club Houzz. There are 4-5 shower heads. Pressure and temperature are not problems here. So I had no complaint. As I have not stepped into the steam rooms , I cannot tell what they are like.

The Dark Area 

The dark area is a simply a corridor with doors to the private cabins, some small screens showing porns and an area with a sofa and a TV also showing porns. The private cabins are not very big and limited in numbers,(3-5) with condoms, lubes and 2 pillows in them. However, the peeping holes make them repelling to some. Also, the illumination is sometime insufficient, only a tiny "spot" beaming red light. Some individuals even lodge the complaints that the light jars their eyes, on the internet. But as far as I am concerned, it's okay.

The music here is "softer" staff, but still occasionally too loud. It cannot be heard in the lounge and wet area, if my memory serves me.

Clientele 

And the clientele.......well being an Asian nerd, I have to say my very own appearance was a shame on it. However, on the day  I visited there, there were merely10-20 GAMs in their 30-40s. Most were not sculpted. Some even were those people would call fugglies. That's why I suppose this place is not the reincarnation of Towel Club, or at least it fails to make itself one. Of course this is a lopsided view as I went there on a Sunday's afternoon, which was not the golden hours and the place was yet new. And to be fair, an hour later there came 3 tall, Asian and muscular dudes and a tall, handsome but out-of-shape GAM. And I had sex with 1 of them so no complaint here. There were only GAMs during the period I visited the place, perhaps due to its newness.

Comment 

In a word, I don't think Big Top is really bad, although the full price, 140, would be too high for it. That said, I would still pay 10$ more when choosing between this and Alexander, which also operates round the clock, purely for the design and decoration.
