Jungle Sauna and My Way Sauna in Wanchai are under the same ownership

A 20-something gym-built white guy talks to FuelMix and shares his experience in Jungle and My Way:

I'd shown up to Jungle months before and didn't get any action.  I had also shown up twice at My Way on  Saturday afternoons where I was the only gweilo there.  I got some pretty good action with the GAMs and the guys there were like me, gym fit or gym built.  So I thought that I would give Jungle another shot.

I showed up on a weekday evening about 7:30pm.  The place was pretty full of youngish guys.  They were all GAMs.  Some were really skinny, some were gym fit, a few were gym muscle types like me and were quite attractive.  Guys kept coming in quite frequently, so I guess they have a large groups of regulars.

For a while I was just ignored, although I was looked at a lot.  I hung out in the Dark Area since there was more space there.  Then a few GAM guys touched me as they walked past.  Sometimes they came back to touch my body a few times.  But they wouldn't say anything to me.

Finally one GAM started kissing my bod and said in English that he liked my muscles.  He pulled me into a room and started servicing me all over.  He was pretty good and I fucked his throat in different positions before coming in his mouth.  I wanted to fuck him but he said my 8 inch cut cock was too big. Oh well...

So yeah, I did get action in Jungle.  I think more white guys should give this place a go as well.  The staff are perfectly polite and speak good English.  I paid HK$150.00.  That's what the English sign said, but I think the GAMs pay less.  I used to go to Central Escalator but I got frustrated as there just wasn't enough room to play and the guys showing up weren't attractive. Not really into fat white guys.

I will go back to Jungle and also to My Way.  Now that I've got action in Jungle, I'm pretty sure it will happen again.  Also, I like the huge space in My Way.  The GAM guys in My Way are pretty attractive and some are certainly built. I wish more gym fit whites would show up at these 2 places.  If I can get action there, they can too.

For many of us, it begins with this simple but devastating realization: I don't fit in. I don't fit in, have never fit in and never will fit in. I play along because it's easier on me and everyone I interact with to do so, and I value my independence which means I have to find a way to support myself. That is difficult, as what I like to do has little to no value in our economy. 

What interests me is how the epidemic of pain and alienation that characterizes our society is the direct result of how our economy and social order is structured. Incoherence, self-destruction, pain and alienation are the only possible outputs of the system we inhabit......

• Money is a store of value: historically it was sea shells, livestock, fruit and veggies, gold, silver.  Anything that had intrinsic value in it.  PAPER MONEY was merely intended to be a convenient portable receipt that was backed by the actual commodity is represented.  (In other words, it was much easier to carry a receipt confirming that it was worth One Sheep, than carry the sheep in your pocket).
• In the good ol' days, PAPER MONEY could only be printed if there was an actual physical commodity backing each note.
• Currency is NOT money:  It was - and still is - created out of thin air AT WILL.  That is why it is known as fiat currency (from the latin word, "fiat" meaning "at will").  Historically, it was just physically printed as needed.  Now it is created electronically as needed.  This "out-of-thin-air" trick is based on a scam known as Fractional Reserve Banking.  This allows unlimited creation of fiat currency WITH NOTHING TANGIBLE BACKING IT - EXCEPT THE CONFIDENCE THAT PEOPLE THINK THEY HAVE IN IT...

2.   Therein lies the problem.  The Central Bank's control and creation of synthetic - inherently WORTHLESS - currency triggers:

• Debt;
• Interest;
• Taxes;
• Inflation;
• Booms and Busts;

3.   Create, Manipulate And Destroy - For Profit

1.   As has been very well documented, these 5 phenomena are ARTIFICIALLY CREATED AND MANIPULATED BY AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BANKING ELITE.

2.   That is how Bankers:

• create and profit from Wars;
• create and profit from economic destruction of entire countries;
• create and profit from the economic destruction of people;

3.  Only now, thanks to the Web, are some people beginning to realize that all of this is cynically manipulated.


4.   The Corruption Of Capitalism

1.  The corollary to the fake creation of currency is the fundamental corruption of capitalism in 2 ways:

• new currency is accessed by insiders who can "invest" it and make massive returns.  For everyone else, new currency simply debases currency already in circulation, crashes interest rates, increases debt, causes artificial asset bubbles and inflation;
• capital becomes mis-allocated and misused.  This usually occurs via the creation of financial derivatives that add nothing to the real economy - except hefty commissions to the investment banks creating them and selling them to so-called "sophisticated investors".

2.    Can you now see the scam we've set out above..?  Smith also talks about Bitcoin as a means of de-centralizing control of currency.  We're not sure about that - although we are inclined to accept his fundamental point that Central Banks have made a major mess of things and that a radical overhaul of the financial system will be required.

FM:  I have a theory about that.  There are so many cameras in a gay sauna that the staff can see who's actually getting attention in the Locker Room, who's being followed around, who's getting action in the showers, hot tub, dark area and who's just standing around.  I suspect the ones who get the party started are the ones they want back

"Been to Alexander lately, darlin'..?" chirped a nasal twang.  FuelMix put down his coffee, swivelled his head and was greeted by a cheesy grin belonging to a very, very, very, very casual GWM acquaintance with whom he had the occasional conversation in the saunas.

FM:  I've written the place off. Not going back.

GWM:   The place is totally fucked....I went in on a weekday evening after 10pm.  As soon as I walked in, there was a really strong stink in the Locker Room.  Apparently the sink in the vanity counter had backed up or the tap was leaking or something.  They had put several bath towels around the tap.  They were soaking wet, the counter was waterlogged and the sink was smelling like you wouldn't believe.

FM:  Ooops...

GWM:   Yeah...there's more...the towel they gave me in my locker.....it was dirty, torn AND SHIT STAINED..!!!  EEEEEeewww..!!!

FM:  AAAaaackk...

GWM:  I mean seriously torn and seriously shit stained.  I was grossed out.  Took it to Reception.  They muttered something in Canto and literally just threw another towel at me.  I got pretty angry. I'd just paid HK$130 bucks less than a minute ago to enter a stinking Locker Room and was expected to wear a dirty, torn and shit stained towel.

FM:  Did the Steam Room burn the skin off you..?

GWM:  I didn't go in.  There was a plastic bucket near the door of the Steam Room that was overflowing with towels.  The towels were all over the floor, completely soaked and people were just stepping on them.  I was so shocked.  I was barefoot and just didn't wanna step on those towels to get into the Steam Room.  What made it so peculiar is that there weren't that many people there that evening.  The whole shower area just had a look of filth about it.  I guess that's why it was so dark there.  It was impossible to tell which one was shower gel and which one was shampoo......oh and one more thing.....what's going on with the hot water in the shower...?  Some shower heads weren't getting any.

FM:  What about the water cooler outside the Steam Room?  That hasn't been fixed in months apparently.

GWM:  Still the same.  Hasn't been cleaned or anything. But that didn't stop the yellow customers from spitting in it anyway

FM:  Oh God...

GWM:  *sigh*  It's absolutely shocking what's happened to this place.  It's gone downhill soooo quickly.  There's no way in hell they can call it a flagship sauna.  It's just not worth the money. There's a real sense of they don't fuckin' care.  I'd got pissed off in Alexander on several occasions and wondered about the management....but this was it. I'm not going back.  I left that place in less than an hour.  I was so fuckin' angry.

FM:  Something's going on in this city.  Can't put my finger on it.  But it has something to do with a loss of identity, a huge drop in standards, a paralyzed, polarized political process and Mainland Chinese infiltration on so many fronts. - PLUS the usual gay business assumption that they can simply gouge their customers and get away with it.  It's a very unhealthy combination.

GWM:  I agree.  I don't get a good feeling either.  Hey...you wanna know about the people who were there that evening?

FM:  Fat, Fugly, Slant Eyed Shit..?

GWM:  Bingo

It adds to our suspicion that Singapore - which has far less gay saunas - will shortly overtake Hong Kong in terms of sauna quality and customer satisfaction.  They've already won when it comes to their standard of English la....

Sent in by a reader a few days ago (minor editing by FuelMix):

Went to this place on a Wednesday late afternoon. There's a discount for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Instead of paying the full price $179, presenting with the advertisements in their website on arrival on those days, one may pay $129 ( subject to availability which implies they still would decide whom to give discount to). Wednesdays are small towel nights.

Having been there once before, the site wasn't difficult to find. The door bell was outside the main gate along with the ones for the other flats. After the first gate, there were clear signs directing to the sauna which was located on the third floor. Then there was another door and the reception was behind it. I mentioned the discount and the guy at Reception hesitated at first but approved my request after seeing the actual advertisement. I gave $130 and was expected to give up the $1 change. 

The entire place was still very neat and clean. A smaller dark maze was open instead of the main one. At first there were about 20 customers but this number soon picked up and reached its peak between 8 to 10pm and afterward dropped very sharply.

As FM stated in some of his sauna reviews, the quality and quantity of the customers in Hong Kong saunas has declined compared to a few years ago. Even a Hong Kong legend like Hutong is not immune from this phenomenon. The sauna was not so picky as before and the clientele for this evening was a mix of different ages and body shapes. There were hot guys for sure but also Fugly ones. However, the average age and body shape tended to be younger and fitter than other saunas. Three GWM were seen, fit and in their 30s or 40s. Standing and modelling didn't look so bad. 

I heard from other customers that they may pay $120 as full price. I also noticed that registered customers could get discount messages via WhatsApp and such methods were clearly displayed in conspicuous places in the sauna (but only in Chinese).

As the strict and notorious door policy has loosened up, I strongly suggest that FM should give it a try as it seems this is the only sauna FM has never been to in town.

** Unscheduled because our original plan was to show up on the weekend in the late evening.  But since we were in the vicinity and it started raining in the early evening and we were without an umbrella, we just walked in.


4.   The Concept For Arena

1.   Best as we can tell, the concept for Arena is that of an industrial-themed sauna and playspace which is intended to actively encourage uninhibited, group fun that goes beyond plain vanilla and which including fisting, kink and raunch.  Their website implies as much with references to Fisting, Watersports, Toys.

2.   Certainly the shower area is large enough - and behind the partition, private enough for watersports action for those so inclined.  We will have to reserve judgment on the fisting and kink until we've inspected the Caged Room and exactly what it contains.

3.   Whether this concept will take off with the local GAMs remains to be seen.  However, we can certainly envisage experienced Westerners (residents and tourists) who might be drawn to this place as a safe and welcoming space for their brand of kink and raunch.  Since Arena has only recently opened, it's too early to tell.  Frankly Arena's website is not that helpful.


5.   The Clientele At The Time We Were There

1.   We're just gonna spit it out, FuelMix style:

1. FAT, FUGLY, REALLY DARK FILIPINOS LIVING HERE.  We had not seen these types before even in ABC which had a reputation for attracting ugly Flips. So God knows how they knew about Arena or what they were hoping to find;
2. FAT, FUGLY LOCAL GAMs.  And we do mean FAT, FUGLY LOCAL GAMs.
3. Some legacy GAM customers from ABC.  Nothing to look at.
4. Some GAMs who are regulars at My Way;
5. Some skinny GAMs;
6. Some muscular GAM gym guys;

2.   We witnessed a number of customers shake their heads in disbelief at the layout of Arena particularly the near-crashing into the glass door of the Wet Area upon entry, the outrageous Locker Area and the underwhelming Lounge.  They left within 30 minutes.  We left within an hour.

3.   In fairness, a cute gym built GAM came on to FuelMix.  But FuelMix was so pissed off with the place that he politely declined.  We're happy to concede that we did not pick the right time to show up, but we had to get out of the rain.


6.   Pros and Cons of Arena

Pros:

• Discreet location in Tsim Sha Tsui;
• Open 24 hours - the only gay sauna in TST open 24 hours;
• Very close to Physical gym, a known hangout for gays;
• A few muscular dudes already showing up (but see below in Cons);
• Able to cater to a crowd into harder action (theoretically anyway); 
• Large Wet Area;
• Decent sized Dark Area with Cage Room;
• More of a group action place; 
• Good sized jacuzzi;
• Large spacious steam room 
• Mainland Chinese not yet appeared there.

Cons:

• Textured metal flooring a disaster. Very hard on the feet;
• Locker Room a disaster;
• Lounge a disaster; 
• Locker Room seating and Lounge seating a bad joke;
• Wet Area dimly lit;
• Metallic Silver Toilets dark and really depressing;
• Semi-cockloft in Dark Area not easy to get up into or down from;
• Very Strange Vibe - Maybe too new at the moment;
• Inexplicable and overwhelming sensation of claustrophobia.
• NO computers to use !!  WTF..??!! ABC, Action, Alexander and Gateway had and still have them; 
• SMOKING ZONE IS IN WET AREA. THERFORE WHEN SMOKERS GATHER (AND THESE GAMS SMOKE A LOT), TOILETS AND JACUZZI SHROUDED IN SMOKE. LOUSY VENTILATION, VERY HARD TO BREATHE, WINDOWS DON'T OPEN, STINKS LIKE HELL.
• Attracting Fat And The Fugly as well as some muscular dudes.  Remains to be seen which type wins out;
• Some customers clearly annoyed with this place and left quickly;

7.   The Verdict : Would FuelMix Go Back..?

1.   FuelMix was fazed, surprised, dismayed, annoyed and disgusted at what he saw in Arena on his first visit.  Very little in its design and layout made sense.  The customers there were a turn-off - which only added to the sensation of being underwhelmed.

2.   We believe we've given readers an accurate and comprehensive review of Arena. As a new business on the gay scene, we wish them well.

3.   We're happy to admit that we may have picked the wrong day and the wrong time.  We have often said in this blog that showing up at a gay sauna is like showing up at casino.  You pay your money and you take your chances.

4.  Would we go back..?? We'll have to since it's our policy to review a new sauna at least twice.  In the meantime, readers can submit their impressions.

Part 2

** Unscheduled because our original plan was to show up on the weekend in the late evening.  But since we were in the vicinity and it started raining in the early evening and we were without an umbrella, we just walked in.

3.   Decor And Layout

(a)  Initial Impression

1.   Having got the locker key, push the door and enter......and then be prepared for the First Shock:

2.   To say that the layout is quirky, would be an understatement.  The first thing a customer will crash into is a glass door with yellow police tape in a very narrow corridor.  Ignore it.  That's the entrance to the Wet Area.  More on that below.

3.   The Decor concept is "Industrial" throughout the premises.  Certain areas, including the Locker Area, have textured metal floors which are a damn nuisance to walk on.  The colour scheme throughout the premises is Black, Silver and Grey. Very, very industrial.  Totally different to Alexander, the now defunct ABC, Action and Gateway.

(b)  The Locker Area

4.   Proceed down the narrow corridor, past the vanity counter and turn sharp left.  Then be prepared for the Second Shock.....

5.   The Locker Area is breathtaking....54 lockers in various sizes stacked in a NARROW CRAMPED SPACE.  So narrow, that as the main traffic area, it is too narrow for a bench.  Instead, there is a 6 inch vinyl ledge that runs the length of the lockers on one side.  Good luck trying to sit there because the metal padlock housing of every locker will stab you in the back.

(c)   The Lounge

6.   Beyond the Locker Area is the Lounge in pale grey.  What a fuckin' disappointment.  If a customer has fond memories of ABC's comfy TV Lounge, where one could snack, chill out or cuddle, you're absolutely gonna DETEST this one. Maximum seating on the bench seat: 3 and a half (with another 2 seats in an alcove running from the lockers).

7.  A small selection of snacks and magazines are available under the big screen TV - which like Birds Playspace is too fuckin' close to the eyes.  There is also a porn screen on an adjacent wall which is viewable from the Locker Area or - if one turns one's head at 90 degrees - the backstabbing vinyl ledge.  It's utterly mindboggling.

(d)   The Dark Area

8.  Push through the curtain adjacent to the Lounge and enter the Dark Area done in battleship grey and black.  Again the layout is a bit quirky (as it should be).  There are only 5 rooms (compared to ABC's 8) equipped with red and white lighting and the usual accessories.  One of the private rooms is large for group action and comes with a big screen TV.

9.  There are 4 features in the Dark Area in addition to the private rooms:

1. A semi-cockloft i.e. a raised platform with built in tiny steps and a large vinyl mattress for group fun.  Good luck trying to get up those damn, absolutely vertical steps with a metal handgrip.  It is not high off the ground but it is stupidly designed;
2. Under the semi-cockloft, is a crawl space accessible via curtains for more group action.  Anybody can peek in;
3. A large dark room with a bench to either jack off, get sucked off or fuck.  A vertical perforated metal partition at the end of it allows people to peek in or out;
4. A caged room which the staff told us contained more "toys" and "fucking accessories" but which is not yet complete.  It was locked and the door covered in black vinyl curtain.  It will be opened 24/7 in a few days time.

(e)  The Wet Area

10.   This is quite large.  Larger than Alexander in fact. Colour scheme is silver and dark slate grey.  Again, very industrial.  Dim lighting.

11.   There are 5 shower heads, including 2 behind a partition, and 2 toilets. Given the large space, we were surprised the completely metal toilets were so dinky - and frankly uninviting.

12.  There is also a dark grey slate jacuzzi slightly larger than the one in Alexander.  To get in and out of it, climb 2 wooden steps.  Watch your footing.  Water temperature was good.  There is also a rainshower on one side and a window which allows those in the adjacent Steam Room to spy on you.

13.  The Steam Room is good and very large.  It is square shaped and has a partition.  There is plenty of standing room and virtually no sitting room (unless we missed something).

Part 1

** Unscheduled because our original plan was to show up on the weekend in the evening.  But since we were in the vicinity and it started raining in the evening and we were without an umbrella, we just walked in.

1.   Getting There

1.   There are 2 ways of walking there from Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Exit B:

1. Walk along Nathan Road, turn Right into Granville Road, turn right into Granville Circuit; OR
2. Walk along Cameron Road, turn Left into Carnarvon Road, turn Right into Hau Fook Street, walk to the end of that street AND keep walking straight through an alley that comes out on Granville Circuit next to Wing Hing Mansion.

2.   We prefer option 2 above because there is a rainbow flag neon sign on the side of Wing Hing Mansion at the end of the alley as it comes to Granville Circuit making it easy to tell that this is the right building.

3.   Also Hau Fook Street is directly across from Tsim Sha Tsui Physical, the gym, which is full of fags, including ex-California Fitness fags.  We already know that fags from TST Physical are showing up at Arena. 

4.   There is a sign advertising Arena on the front of the building which instructs customers to punch in " 2 and F" on the keypad.  Wait to be buzzed in.

5.   Take the dinky lift to the 2nd Floor, turn sharp right and press the buzzer.


2.   How Much..?

1.   The Staff behind the jail-like looking Reception grille are all ex-ABC. They are polite and speak good English.  If they've seen a customer from ABC, they'll smile and greet.

2.   Entry fee is HK$130.00.  Pay coin, get a locker key.

3.   Note that the staff may give a customer a 6-Stamp Card specifically for Arena.  After 6 stamps, the 7th visit is free.

4.   The 6-Stamp Card used for Alexander and Action CANNOT be used in Arena.  Therefore if a customer goes to Alexander, Action and Arena, they will have 2 stamp cards in their wallet.

5.   Some customers will also be given another card with open-dated validity, giving 20% discount for entry to Arena.

Hi FuelMix

Long time no see. I am sure much has happened after my last email to you. However, I still frequently visit your blog as usual and I notice that the update of your sauna reviews has fallen behind your other articles. I would like to include an update of Alexander sauna.

It was a Sunday afternoon I went there again after an absence of six months. Arrived at 1pm and on checking in I was told that there were only three towels allowed per customer because the washing machine was not working. Of course it's just an excuse as it seems to happen every weekend. [FuelMix says this is also what he's hearing from his GAM Throats-On-The-Street]


Admission remained $130 with the member card but without any stamps on weekends. I was also introduced to a new venue that the ABC-Gateway group owned, called Arena. The group declares on its official website that Arena is the first fetish and fist club in Hong Kong [see what FuelMix has written on Arena]


In a number of reviews, FuelMix rated down Alexander and I would agree in terms of the facilities and the quality of the clientele of this place. There has been serious wear and tear on the facilities and the steam room needs renovation.  It smelled of urine inside and the floor was slimy and thus very slippery. After a few hours intensive usage, the steam room seemed to be slightly flooded, maybe because of the poor drainage (you can use your imagination of what blocked the drainage.)  

The sauna was as FIM described , so hot that one can only stay for up to 3 minutes (to stop people from hogging  it...?)  

Further, this place:

• was  infested with fugly people with poor manners who wouldn't close the door going in or out of the steam room; 
• who would smoke right next to you without consideration; 
• who spat in the steam room or shower areas; 
• who used the showers and sprayed water everywhere and dropped it on the floor after using;

This behaviour is more disgusting than their fugly faces and it's like a curse that is haunting Alexander.

Anyway, consistent with FuelMix's verdict, I would rate this place down too unless serious action is taken.

• the metal water drinking fountain just outside the steam room, which apparently has not been fixed for over 6 months...
• the disgusting behaviour is coming from the Mainland Chinese who apparently love this place;
• the unbearably loud music in the Dark Area, and the staff don't give a damn even when repeatedly told;
