Comparisons of Credibility
After over 7 years of writing this blog, FuelMix thought he'd comment on a trend that's being going for a while.......the credibility gap between Western-based and Asian-based readers.
1. Western-based Readers
Western- based readers (inevitably white by their own description) will compliment the blog, offer vague subject ideas and offer to submit a post on a topic, asking first whether FuelMix would accept it. FuelMix's response is "yes, in principle, let's see it, editorial discretion and copyright vests in FuelMix."
"OK great!" they say, "we'll be in touch." Months and years pass. Nothing arrives. Not a squeak. Not an explanation. Just a fade out.
- To date, only 2 Western-based readers have kept their word;
- To date, only 1 Western-based reader periodically sends in links for potential storylines;
2. Western-based Readers Visiting Asia
When Western-based readers (inevitably white by their own description) come to Asia on holiday or business trips, they act in the same way as set out in paragraph 1 above. A complete fade out.
3. Asian-based Readers
Asian-based readers (white or Asian by their own description) will compliment the blog AND include a post on a specific topic without even being asked, enquiring whether FuelMix might publish it. With the exception of one post, which FuelMix advised the sender was potentially defamatory (and the sender agreed, thanking FuelMix for pointing it out), the posts are uploaded.
Frequently, FuelMix will contact the Asian-based sender asking for clarification or more details prior to publishing. Within an average of 2 days, it's dealt with.
- To date, all Asian-based readers (white or Asian) have kept their word;
- To date, Asian-based readers (white or Asian) are more inclined to offer storylines or links;
If any reader has a theory for the discrepancies in credibility, FuelMix would be interested to hear it.
