Received from a reader yesterday:

Hello FuelMix,

I read online that Hutong sauna would be filled with handsome hunks but the entrance procedure would pose a problem, so I was curious what it was all about.

 First things first, the thing was hard to find. Luckily I noticed the sign of the building (though it was in Chinese, so probably not helpful for foreigners) and then a very small doorbell with a camera. It was two floors up and then another doorbell with camera. Immediately I got the message: "Oh sorry, we are entirely full tonight, it's now invitation only" (which was a bit weird on a quiet Thursday evening). Normally I'd make a fuss about it and ask some more questions, but from this blog and other sources I knew they were just being selective. I'm a GAM but probably did not fit their requirements of being hunky or handsome enough...

I just turned back and left the premises. On the way out I saw some other guys walking in, they seemed to be local office workers. I waited a few minutes to see if they would be turned down but I didn't see them walking out. So after this final confirmation of being left out, I decided that Hutong sauna wasn't worth any penny of me.

So I can confirm that their "door policy" still exists. It's the first sauna ever that turned me down, quite a cold shower experience!

Kind regards,
FrequentHKTraveler

Thanks for the update.  Sorry to hear about your experience.
We've been hearing from our friendly GAM contacts on the street that:
  1. the door policy existed and was being applied unevenly - a (GAM) customer would be let in on one occasion and then denied entry the next time. Apparently it depends on who's on duty at the Front Desk;
  2. there's tons of Stand and Model and attitude;
  3. it was a waste of time and money;
