Décor And Layout

The design ethos appears to be Industrial Minimal Chic.  It’s brilliantly designed and executed.  Predominant colours are grey, white and brown, accented by wood and stone.

A large space, high ceilings, open-plan layout, modern furniture accents and Industrial Minimal Chic remove feelings of stuffiness and claustrophobia prevalent in many saunas in town.

Everywhere one looks, even in the Dark Area, the premises give off an Edgy, Sexy Vibe.  

No other gay sauna in town comes close to the horny ambience that the interior design of Club Houzz arouses.  The attention to detail in getting the Minimalist look to work, is intelligent and frankly, astounding.

This place takes your breath away on walking around the premises.  One can’t help but smile with approval.

The Locker Room

Simply done in grey with a white seating bench.   There’s a large mirror on one wall. The lockers come in 2 sizes, large and smaller square ones. The larger lockers are good sized but a minor gripe:  they need better clothes hangers.

The 2 Lounges

Adjacent to the Locker Room is a small TV lounge with a red sofa and flat screen TV. Turn the corner to your left and there’s another small lounge with white leather chairs, magazines and fruits.  The Lounges are comfy but it’s clear from the start that Club Houzz is not designed to get its customers to sit around. The large space demands circulation and cruising.

The Dark Area

At the end of the 2^nd Lounge is a narrow grey curtained entrance to the Dark Area.  This is a very pleasant surprise.  The Dark Area is just dark enough without being pitch black (Alexander-style).  That’s because it’s done in Dark Grey.  That’s what FuelMix meant by the attention to detail.

Essentially, the Dark Area is in 2 parts, both of which have private cabins. It’s roomy and cleverly laid out with a diversion to an open plan small porn-showing area with a few chairs that can be moved around.  The light from the porn screen illuminates that area so it’s perfectly possible to check out the meat.  There’s also a narrow exit / entrance next to the porn screen that opens onto the main Dark Area corridor.

The main corridor in the Dark Area goes around the porn showing area before emerging on the other side of the Locker Room near the large mirror. In other words, the circulation pattern is 180 degrees from the 2^nd Lounge.

The Private Cabins

Quite simply, the best FuelMix has seen.  They’re roomy enough, they’ve got mirrors, very clean, stocked with condoms, lube dispensers and toilet paper.  Each has a rectangular block pillow large enough for 2 guys to share.

The sliding wooden doors have good quality, quick-release metallic deadbolts for locking and unlocking. Fortunately (unlike ABC, Alexander, Chaps and Colony), there are no peeping slots.

Best of all is the lighting. The large lamp in each cabin has a wide dimmer range AND can also be swivelled up, down or sideways for your choice of ambient lighting.  Yet another attention to detail.

The Wet Area

On emerging from the Dark Area, you’ll see steps leading to the Vanity Counter and the Wet Area. The design and ambience of the showers is very sexy, particularly with the wood, stone wall and pebbles.  Shower gel and shampoo are in wall mounted transparent dispensers, clearly labelled (unlike other saunas that simply dump plastic bottles there and leave the fag to figure it out).

There are 4 showerheads with excellent pressure and temperature controls.  3 are in a straight line, the 4^th is just off to the side in an alcove – if you want a buddy with you. The area is extremely clean.  Those showers are fun, fun FUN………and FuelMix got action there several times.

To the left of the showers is the Steam Room.  This is rectangular with a low partition on one side.  The heat is fine and it’s very clean.  However, there is no seating in the Steam Room.  Again the concept is to get the fag to have sex.  Hell, there’s even a sign on the Steam Room door saying as much.  FuelMix doesn’t really care if a Steam Room has seating or not.  He tends to stand anyway.

To the right of the shower is the toilet.  Simply designed in white with a sink, mirror, single urinal and single cubicle.  The windows open for ventilation, so some fags may be smoking there.  They shouldn’t since technically, there’s a smoking ban in force.  The cubicle in the toilet is large enough for 2 or 3 fags to well ………..you know…………and they did.

There is no hot tub or Dry Sauna.
