When Size Doesn't Matter

(a.k.a. When White Boy Claims That Shorter Foreign Men Who Win, Have "Issues")

1.   The Meme

We've been watching with some fascination this little meme of "height" being played out over the last few weeks.  Specifically, in the context of Crimea's secession to Russia and the manner in which the Russian President swiftly outplayed the West.

We're not gonna get into the geopolitical analysis of who triggered this Ukranian mess (hint: it was planned in about 1997 and it wasn't Russia).  Rather we'll comment on the chronically repeated assertions in Western media that the Russian President did what he did on account of being "short" or "vertically challenged" - in other words, reputed to stand at 5 foot 5 inches, he needed to "prove himself" or somehow compensate for his alleged physical shortcomings (nothwithstanding that he's a black belt in judo).

It is of course, utter garbage and typical of the sneering and gratuitous personal insults to be expected from Westerners against foreigners who outmanoeuvred them in the geopolitical, financial, corporate, professional, athletic - hell, pretty much any field.


2.   What We Saw

Whilst living in the West, we witnessed this phenomenon repeatedly:

• shorter, hot, muscled, Asian guys in a gym full of whites were publicly presumed to be muscling up to compensate for their lack of height so that whites might take them more seriously. It never occurred to them that the Asians couldn't care less about them or that the whites might be hitting the gym as a result of their own insecurities and peer pressure;
• shorter, Asian guy steps out of his red Ferrari at Starbucks and is publicly presumed to be owning a manly car to compensate for his lack of height and "manliness". It hurt the whites to think that the Asian could not only pay cash for the car, but probably also owned a Lamborghini which he drove on weekends.  But if a white guy showed up in a Ferrari, regardless of how he looked......"ooh, he's hot...!"
• shorter, well dressed, well groomed, Asian guy repeatedly sneered by whites for his "designer labels" so that people wouldn't think he was "underage"....They couldn't afford his clothes.
• shorter, Asian guys, muscled or not, automatically assumed to be "effeminate" and "bottoms" by whites in the gay saunas - and then shunned if they were actually Tops.  But shorter white guys were "compact" or "cute" or "little studs";

Understand something here, fags.  This white sneering isn't so much racism as it is exasperation and a perverse acknowledgment of - for want of a better word - "superiority" or "equality".  It simply sticks in the white man's craw that a foreigner could have the Audacity, the Body, the Brains and the Cash - in one package if necessary. (Hence the Western snickering of the Russian President's shirtless photographs - and he's worth about 20 Billion bucks).


3.   Flipping Through History And Now

A random cruise through history and now will reveal several shorter men of note:

• Genghis Khan;
• Alexander the Great;
• Napoleon Bonaparte;
• Emperor Haille Selassie of Ethiopia - he was not referred to as The Lion of Judah for nothing;
• The Gurkha Troops from Nepal - still regarded as amongst the most feared fighters in the world;
• Mahatma Gandhi - threw the British out of India after 400 years of colonial rule;
• Kim Jong Il - widely ridiculed in the West for his bouffon hairstyle and platform shoes, but he turned North Korea into a nuclear power;
• Yasser Arafat - credited with initiating aircraft hijackings in the 1970s as a political statement, founded the Palestinian Liberation Organization;
• Josef Stalin;
• Former New York Mayor, Fiorello La Guardia, after whom La Guardia Airport is named;
• Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who at the time of writing this, is the current Russian Prime Minister;
• Actors Tom Cruise, Danny DeVito and Michael J. Fox;
• Kung Fu legend Bruce Lee;
• Orchestral conductor Gustavo Dudamel, currently the hottest music commodity around;
• Current heart throb and German-Vietnamese Olympic gymnast, Marcel Ngyuen; Seriously, check out this guy's looks....it's not surprising he's got modelling contracts and advertising contracts;

4.   Selective Snickering

 Furthermore, this Western snickering of "short" foreigners ONLY applies to MEN, namely:

• those not deemed to be allies; or 
• those who are perceived to be acting against Western interests; or 
• those who are unpopular in their own Western countries;

That is why short,  and highly unpopular former French President Nicholas Sarkozy got mercilessly taunted by the French and Western press over his height; as did the highly unpopular Italian Prime Minister (and billionaire) Sylvio Berlussconi. Yet, one never hears anything about the physical stature of short King Abdullah II of Jordan who is a staunch Western ally. He has to be - he needs the money; or Wall Street darling, Billionaire and former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg.


5.  The Western Use of Deliberately Provocative or Insulting Adjectives

We believe that this is in fact a modus operandi by Western media, intended to "soften up" the shorter, foreign person by incessant humiliation, belittling, taunting and provocation. It is a smokescreen. This is especially prevalent when the shorter foreigner has scored a political, economic or geopolitical advantage over the West, or is not deemed an ally, or is allegedly acting against Western interests, or is visiting a Western country for hard-nosed negotiations, or the West needs time to consider its response having been caught flat-flooted.

Almost on cue, Western reportage whether in tabloid media or establishment press and analysis, will prominently contain - often repeated -  descriptions like "dimunitive", "Napoleonic Complex", "puny", "shrimp", "dwarf", "midget", "little person" - or a snide allegation that the person needs to prove himself because of some height issue or implications of personal insecurity on account of height.

It's deeply pathetic to observe.

Yet.....when describing white "leaders", they might be called "tall" or "strapping" or "intimidating" - but there's no reference to their triple chins, (or lack thereof.....seen British Prime Minister David Cameron's face...?? There's no fuckin' chin.  You call THAT manly....??!!)  receding hairlines, bloated midsection, age spots and the Fugliness which mercilessly hits so many white middle aged men and ultimately pushes them to surreptitious plastic surgery, the bruises for which are given a macho explanation......seen US Secretary of State John Kerry's new long and weirdly distorted face lately? He claimed his plastic surgery bruises were from a hockey match......uh huh..

We'd dearly love to see an interview with a white politician that starts off by focusing on his physical characteristics. It would make one regret having bought a High Definition TV.


6.   And White Boy Has It All...??  Umm... OK...

Would it be perverse of FuelMix to point out that there is no shortage of white guys who:

• at 6' 2" are butt ugly...?
• at 6' 2" are overweight trolls....?
• at 6' 2" are ageing badly....? 
• at 6' 2" are totally drug-fucked....?
• at 6' 2" are total bottoms (despite "manly" appearances)...?
• at 6' 2" are broke.....?
• at 6' 2" are jobless....?
• at 6' 2" are emotionally crippled....?
• at 6' 2" are over-compensating against their true sexual orientation.....?
• at 6' 2" are embarrassed about their small cock size....?
• at 6' 2" aren't that intelligent....?
• at 6' 2" are self-deluded into thinking that their size intimidates....?
• at 6' 2" don't have much of a clue what's going on in the world....?
• at 6' 2" will never make an impact on the world....?

Thought not.
