This from a reader:

Dear FuelMix

I’m a GWM in my 30s.  A few years ago my right leg was amputated below the knee and I wear a prosthetic leg.  I’m in good shape. I play sports and go to the gym.  I will be visiting Hong Kong and would like to know which gay sauna I could go to.  I like guys of all types and I can perform sexually but wonder if someone like me would be too hard to handle.

Could you make a recommendation or should I forget going to a sauna in Hong Kong?

FuelMix says:

Since mobility isn't an issue, getting around town on the MTR subway should be a cinch.

There are 2 gay saunas you could consider: Central Escalator in SoHo, Hong Kong Island; and Alexander in Mong Kok on Kowloon side. Both have been extensively reviewed in the blog. Click on the links to read more.  Both attract a varied clientele.

On balance, Central Escalator or "CE" as everyone here calls it, would be better suited to you:
  • Gets guys from everywhere - locals, expatriates, foreigners, tourists; Some may be hot, some may be Fuglies;
  • Staff there speak excellent English and there's lots of interaction between the staff and the customers;
  • The customers there are pretty chatty too and likely to be more open-minded than the chink-infested looking-for-perfection places which FuelMix won't bother to name;
  • Minimal attitude - since the space is so fuckin' small, it's hard to run and hide;
  • Free snacks;
  • Compact space (some would say "dinky");
  • Once you're seen to be socially interacting, your chances of scoring sexually would probably increase;
Your physical state is no different to those carrying surgical scars or somebody wearing a leg brace - both of which FuelMix has seen in gay saunas around here.  It is what it is.  Provided you don't come across as a complete asshole there's no reason why anyone would get turned off, especially if the rest of you is in good shape.

Are you guaranteed to get action there? No.  A gay sauna is a casino.  You pay your money.  You take your chances like everyone else.

3 further points:

(1)  Sometimes CE has "Small Towel" Days.  It tends to attract hotter guys.  Call beforehand to find out when.  If clutching a small washcloth-sized towel might cause you embarrassment, you can always request a standard sized towel.

(2)  CE is on the 2nd floor of Cheung Hing Commercial Building.  The steps are a tad steep, but you can also take the elevator.

(3)  Suggest you also read the posts for Alexander Sauna.
