Checked out Colony Sauna last night ( Friday July 15) and thought I should send you an update of what I saw there.

'Boutique' sauna?

Upon arrival I noticed how squeaky clean everything is here. The place is really looked after and it's definitely the boutique hotel among the bigger establishments. Indirect lighting everywhere ... thick, hotel-like towels ... lounge area with adjacent balcony ... the mattresses in the playrooms are much thicker and less leathery than anywhere else too ... it's basically a big open space with lots of room to sit down and relax, as a matter of fact there is less space to fuck than to hangout, which is definitely quite ... comical? 

Too late to tango?

It was rather late on a Friday night (3am) and I only went because I read in one of your earlier posts that the place is frequented by the Mong KOk clubkids from up the road when they've finished dancing!! I was, however, a little disappointed to see only 5 other pairs of shoes on the shoe rack in the locker area, especially cause the owner made it sound that there were still plenty of others about before I paid [to enter].

After a quick walk around, I saw only one guy in the spa who showed no interest in me and two of the booths were locked with no sound coming from inside. Apparently couples like to come here and spend the night together. And fair enough, this place does breathe that sort of vibe in the first place. 

I go to a sauna every now and then and not always get action.  Either I’m being too picky/nervous or I arrive at a time when there is no action to be had in the first place (like last night). So I settled down at the bar and had a chat with the owner over coffee and cake :)) He is a very friendly guy and we chatted for about an hour before I decided to move on. According to him, weekdays between 6 and 9 and a bit later on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are their busy periods. If I'd only arrived an hour earlier, he said, I would have seen about a dozen more guys about.

Verdict

It's a sauna which promotes a sort of relaxed and homely atmosphere. Will I go back? Yeah probably, it's an interesting place with some potential. Like you have mentioned in your own posts, it's a sauna that definitely stands out to all the other saunas in Hong Kong. And the owner also said they have nude-nights (Monday and Thursday I think, but better confirm) which in his words are "much wilder"!! haha

Thanks for the update.  Was waiting for a reader to give their view of Colony Sauna.  Your comments about the "boutique" sauna feel to the place, are correct.

Some suggestions as to when to go there to avoid the "too late to tango" syndrome:

1.  Although this place is open 24 hours, the hotel-like feel to it means that late at night, customers drop in to sleep, get up at dawn, shower, shave, have a quick snack at the bar and then go to work.  Showing up at 3am, virtually guarantees zero action.

2.  Weekdays, including Friday nights, are tough to predict although in the past, FuelMix did get action on a Wednesday evening between 7pm - 11pm.  At other times, it was minimal and like you, FuelMix was perched at the bar.  Their website lists Theme Nites during the week.

3.  Saturday evenings, from 8pm onwards is Nude Nite.  From past experience, FuelMix showed up there on  Saturday Nites between 8:30pm - Midnight and was well serviced by hungry bottoms.  Customers tend to stream in from about 9pm onwards on Saturday Nite.  Some of the more horny ones will also get a group thing going on the very private balcony which can be kinda fun if you're invited to join in.  You might want to show up between those times and provide a further update.
